Did you know that eating the right foods can help you stay healthy and strong not only as a child but also as you age? Learning good eating habits as a child will put you on the right track for life. The National Health Survey indicated that almost one quarter (24.9%) of children aged 5-17 years were overweight or obese in 2017-18 (17% overweight and 8.1% obese). While two thirds (67.0%) of Australian adults were overweight or obese.
To help our children become healthy adults we need to start healthy eating as young as possible. The Healthy Kids Association is a great place to learn best foods and habits for your child. NSW Health is also offering a FREE Healthy and Active for Life Online program for older adults, as it's never too late get on track.
Healthy and Active for Life Online is a 10 week, self-paced program that you can complete in the comfort of your own home. The program also includes gentle home exercise programs to keep you moving for longer. All you need is internet access, a computer or tablet and some space to exercise! This is a great program to do with the kids and grandies as you can learn new recipes and habits as a family together.
The program includes:
- Access to 10 weekly online learning modules covering a range of healthy eating topics
- Handouts to support the online learning material
- Phone support from our trained phone coaches
- Access to 2 online home exercise programs and an exercise manual and log to help keep you on track, and more!
