Learn2Swim week exists to promote the importance of water safety for kids under five. To help spread and reiterate this important message, one free introductory lesson is available for all kids under 5 at participating swim schools between the dates 25 September to 4 October 2020. To find a participating swim school near you, check out the Learn2Swim page.
Learn2Swim Week is an initiative supported by Laurie Lawrence and the Kids Alive do the Five message. A message to combat drowning.
Don't forget to:
- Fence the pool
- Shut the gate
- Teach your kids to swim – it’s great
- Supervise – watch your mate and
- Learn how to resuscitate
In 2020, Learn2Swim Week is more important than ever as COVID has meant that children have not been able to attend lessons as they usually would.
As Royal Life Saving Australia has determined, “Swimming and water safety lessons, in part, have reduced drowning in children, while also enabling healthy aquatic participation.” Thus the importance of water knowledge and safety for kids is of utmost importance to keeping them safe from drownings.
