Child abuse and neglect is one of Australia’s most significant social problems. In 2016 it was recorded that there were 42 notifications made per 1,000 Australian children. Emotional abuse is the most common type of child maltreatment in NSW. Children affected by exposure to family violence would also be included in this category.
